
Biography
Cristian Brotea, MD is a fellowship-trained spine and scoliosis surgeon who specializes in the surgical treatment of upper and lower back problems including disc herniations, degenerative disc disease, nerve impingement, traumatic spine injuries, pediatric and adult scoliosis.
Dr. Brotea’s dual engineering and medical background offers a unique insight into spinal diseases. He specializes in the conservative and surgical evaluation and treatment of upper and lower back problems including sports- and work-related injuries, disc herniations, vertebral fractures, scoliosis and arthritic and degenerative spine diseases of the neck and back. Dr. Brotea treats patients of all ages ranging from children and adolescents with spine problems such as scoliosis to older individuals with osteoporotic vertebral fractures.
He has extensive training in complex spine instrumentation as well as handling spine related tumors and infections. Dr. Brotea also has experience with some of the newest spine surgical interventions including kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty, special minimally invasive surgical techniques with the ability to perform major spine procedures through much smaller incisions, as well as the just recently FDA-approved cervical and lumbar disc replacements. He was fellowship trained and worked at the Cleveland Clinic, has had numerous publications, and has presented at numerous national meetings.
